China may have won the 2008 Olympic, but keeping their vow to put on a “Green Olympics” may be hard to comply with.

Even with it’s pledge to put 12.2 mil into cleaning up the city of Beijing bad air, with only 365 days to go, it’s a tall order.

Did you know that you can recycle your Cell Phone?

Most of us upgrade our Cell Phones every couple of years. What happens to those phones?
Most end up tucked away somewhere for months until we decide to clear up the clutter in our homes, and then we end up taking the chip out of the phone and throwing it in the garbage.

Did you know?… “These devices can leak Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Arsenic and other toxic substances into the water supply. Municipalities often incinerate their waste, instantly putting these toxic elements into the air, and they return to earth in rain water. Since life on Earth depends on water, the threat is clear.” CollectiveGood

Now you can recycle your mobile phones, pagers or PDAs through Earth Share’s partnership with the CollectiveGood Mobile Phone Recycling Program! It’s free, easy to use, and you will be helping to support a healthier environment. Depending upon the phone model, a fixed amount per phone will be donated to Earth Share. ** PLUS, free shipping is continued - for a limited time only!

1600 lbs of space junk will be chucked over the side of the Space Station.

NASA has struggled with this decision but had to make the call. There are relatively few missions left, that could carry the junk back, before the Shuttle Program is retired.

It’s a case of too many things , so little time.

An Earthquake of 6.8 magnitude shakes Japan early Sunday July 16th, killing nine people, injuring hundreds and causing damage to many homes and other buildings including the worlds largest Nuclear Plant. The shaker caused Tokyo’s Electric Co’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear plant to shut down, but a transformer caught fire and burned outside the reactor for several hours before being put out. A small amount of water containing “small amounts of radioactive material” leaked in to the ocean. According to Tokyo Electric the amount of radioactive material was far below the levels that would affect the environment.

Do we really need bigger ships?

Plans to expand the Panama Canal in order to accommodate larger ships that right now don’t fit through the canal, are on the way. These behemoths are capable of carrying 8000 cargo containers each. A supposed low-impact plan, touted by the government is in the works. How low-impact remains to be seen…
