The cheapest energy source for you car is Hydropower hands down. With the price of oil hovering around $93 dollars a barrel and the majority of our cars running on gasoline, we’ve become so dependent on oil that it’s no wonder that we are all feeling the pinch. The average gallon of gas is running at around $3 dollars in the U.S. and over $6 in Europe.

If the technology that could run cars on these energy sources were there, the cost equivalent to the energy output of a gallon of gas would be as follows:

Power plants measure energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh), and one kWh is equivalent to 3,413 Btu, or about 3 percent of the energy in one gallon of gasoline. Source: Discover Magazine: Alternative Energy

It would really pay to the spend the time and energy to develop Hydropower and other Water Powered Alternative Energies like HHO for cars.

It’s time for people to look into investing in companies that are developing methods to get these fuels available.
Do you have any blog posts about investments in Green companies?

By the way, as an antiques dealer and auctioneer, I’m a huge advocate of using quality antique & used furniture and anything else that will cut down on the need for non-renewable materials.

The price of furniture at auctions is so low right now, that a newly married couple can furnish an entire apt. for $1000 if they shop the right auctions!

There’s an over saturation of used furniture and big ticket items on the auction market which makes the cheap!

This is for 2 reasons, dealers are looking for small items to sell on eBay, and people are downsizing their homes or getting foreclosed.

    Great Post,
    Thanks

Alternative energy production is certainly a hot topic these days. I was just reading an article in Wired about use of Saw grass instead of corn to produce ethanol. It seems like new developments are being made in all arenas of this issue. Hydropower does seem like an alternative that we need to work on making more readily available on a wider basis.

What ever happened to liquified coal, coal gas and other coal synthesized products? I suspect that these may provide Americans with a comfortable cushion in the conversion to the more Utopian hydrogen, nuclear, solar and Direct Current economy of the 21st century. Hopefully intellectual rather than military or sexual prowess will be championed for this period. Thank God, America is growing up!
